Pine Cone Chemical Treatment
The following techniques are designed to be used only with an enclosed fire place. Remember, to use extreme caution when dealing with fire and chemicals.
To obtain various color flames in your fireplace, use the appropriate chemical solution. Mix one pound of chemicals for each gallon of water. Soak the pine cones for 10 minutes and hang them to dry.
The chemical solutions are as follows:
- Orange - calcium chloride
- Blue - cupric chloride
- Green - copper sulfate
- Red - lithium chloride
To get a rainbow color scheme, use four pounds of copper sulfate and three pounds of rock salt for every gallon of water.
